Terry Privott was a master of deception. He responded back to my letter above by calling me and claiming that some things just happen this way and basically he downplayed what the union did to me. There was no meeting to review the records involved as I know why. I eventually caught this lying fraud defrauding me in other situations especially with my workers' claim against Lucky Stores. He's an unethical con man like so many others I have dealt with in the grocery business. I caught so many thieves while I worked for Lucky Stores and not one of them were more dishonest than people like Terry Privott, Jim DeAngelis and others. Bob Gill, seen highlighted in my letter above, had no problem allowing two honest white guys to walk away from a hearing looking like racists and they were never given an opportunity to speak. John Burgos was also attending this arbitration and I believe he probably helped orchestrate that this ruling should be in Jean's favor. None of the other people cc: at the bottom of this letter responded back to me. I don't blame them as it was nothing but racial bullshit. I call John Burgos over the phone some time later and asked him if he really believed Jean at that arbitration hearing and he told "not over the phone, Frank." Not over the phone, Frank...not over the phone Frank...not over the phone Frank...not over the phone, Frank...not over the phone, Frank...not over the phone, Frank. This is the same class act who told me over the phone to never call him at home again...and hung up the phone on me.
Below are the facts concerning an insubortion case where Lucky Stores gave an employee three days backpay who told me to shut-up and get my fucking black ass out her checkstand. I sent Jean Denson home for saying that to me. Yeah, that was the reason she got suspended for three days-it had nothing to do with her race...NOTHING. Dirk Crews, a courtesy clerk, witnessed the entire incidence and became a witness for Lucky Stores. During this incidence I calmly told Jean a number of times to go home and finally she requested me to allow her to call the store manager at home (who was off work on this Sunday), and I let her. She talked to the manager on the phone to tell him that I wanted her to go home and the manager told her to go home if I told her to go home. At this same time she is speaking to the store manager on the phone, she doesn't mention anything of racist remarks taking place. The next day, when supervision and the District Manager was made aware of the incidence they suspended Jean for three days...she probably wasn't expecting to be suspended but she was. I didn't know what was going to happen to her as I just didn't want her in the store that day she was so rude to me.
A few days later the Store Manager, Matt Van Airsdale (best manager I ever worked for), told me that Jean Denson went to the union and wanted to fight this three day suspension and it was at the union office when she started claiming that I made racial remarks to her and it was only then. Matt indicated to me when he heard her claims of the words she said I used "Frank I didn't know you used those kinds of words." I told Matt I had never used those kinds of words or slurs...as he knew that I never did either.
But in reality, she was the racist and she hated the idea that a white person in a management position would question her taking a break, without telling them, so she could leave the store, go on over to a Baskin Robins ice cream shop, and order an ice cream cone on a ten-minute-break and then eat it...in ten minutes. LOL It's a common courtesy for everyone who wants to take a 10 minute break to let the person in charge know this, so the person in charge is aware of where the other store employees are and therefore able to manage the breaks of the others in the store.
The District Manager Norm Millert interviewed the courtesy clerk, Dirk Crews, as to what took place and Dirk stated that there were no racial slurs coming from Frank at all. Jean Denson had no witness to her racist accusation because of only this reason: It never happened. So, I wasn't concerned at all about the arbitration that was set to take place concerning her suspension as I had a witness to what took place.
Try to imagine this if you can: She goes on a 10-minute break and doesn't let the person in charge know this. All I do when she gets back to the store is I tell her politely and quietly that it is a "common courtesy" to let the person in charge know when you go on a break. I did it every time I wanted to go on a break... and everyone else does it too. What would have happened if supervison came into the store at the same time and asked me where Jean Denson was? And I responded, "I don't know where she is"-how does that make me look? And what would have happened if she was hit by car on her way over to Baskin Robbins for her ice cream cone...and I claim I didn't know where she was.
She got three days backpay from Lucky Stores after being suspended for telling me to shut up and get my fucking black ass out of her register after coming back into the store after taking a break. Can't get any better than that for me as this was very typical of the respect Lucky Stores showed me in my 27 years of service. Lucky Stores would rather show a racist liar more respect than for two honest employees and give this racist liar three days back pay and humiliate us. Wow, Lucky couldn't even hold an employee accountable for her actions...unless it was me.
She doesn't have any witness and she wants to tell the group of people attending this arbitration that she is a Christian and she doesn't talk the way my witness and I indicated she did. And even crazier than this is the fact that my witness and I were never given an opportunity to speak at this hearing to defend ourselves. Let me repeat this again: My witness and I never had an opportunity to speak at this hearing to allow the truth to shut down her attempt to use the color of her skin and religion as a way to get back three days backpay...this was nearly 40 years ago and look what is happening in our world today.
After this crazy ordeal, a cashier quietly told me that Jean had come to her before her arbitration asking if she would be a witness for her and this cashier told her that she couldn't because what she wanted her to be a witness to didn't happen.
I did this store's payroll at the time and I was required to pay her the three days backpay. The only way she received three days back pay is because they needed to bend the rules in order for her to get it.
And get this too-I found out some time later that this union changed the facts to this arbitration to claim that Jean Denson had a witness and I didn't. When I told the union that one of my greatest experiences in life centered around a black woman, soon they wanted to change it even more to state that Jean never said I used racial slurs...what a joke. They have probably changed it again since then because common sense dictates that if a black woman had a witness claiming I made racial slurs to her, then Lucky Stores wouldn't have suspended her and I would have undoubtedly been fired. The union is so corrupt that they could change any record they wanted, on a whim, to reflect whatever they wanted to reflect. And get this-Lucky Stores did it to me too in my WORKERS' COMPENSATION CLAIM against them.
Click on the image below to hear how a corrupt union, a corrupt Lucky Stores and a white hating black woman turned me into a racist. Also, it was in this conversation I had with another person is when I revealed for the first time a simple story about a black woman I encounter in Ann Arbor, Michigan, my visits with her during her hospital stay, her death and finally her funeral. But because of this terrible injustice to me, I wanted to share it with this person. It didn't come out as concise and understandable as I wanted it to, but I think the person understood where I was coming from and he was very sympathic and supportive of me. Bless his heart.
